The Nissan Qashqai 2018 range has had a facelift, but while we’re waiting for the flagship Ti, we’re taking a look at the current top of the line N-Tec. Here are five things you can expect from this exciting new model.

Additional Gear

Until the Ti arrives, the N-Tec sits at the top of the Nissan Qashqai range and has the gear to distinguish it as such. The model has adaptive LED headlights, automatic wipers, 19 inch alloys, panoramic glass sunroof, dual zone climate control and ambient interior lighting. This is also the only variant equipped with a driver assist suite featuring automated parking assist, intelligent driver attention monitor and blind spot monitoring. While lane departure warnings and autonomous emergency braking are also available on lower spec models, this driver assistance package certainly boosts the N-Tec specification list.

Great Cabin Tech

Inside the cabin is just as packed with tech. There is a 7.0 inch touchscreen featuring navigation and providing a monitor for the 360 degree camera system. There is also parking sensors front and rear, keyless entry, partial leather accent trim and heated front seats.

Superb Practicality

Just like the other variants in the Nissan Qashqai 2018 range, the N-Tec offers superb practicality. The model has unrivalled cargo space at 430 litres with the rear seats in place, that can be expanded to 1598 litres when the rear seats are folded. This is only slightly smaller than the segment leading Honda HRV, which offers 437/1462 litres.

Great Performance

Under the bonnet is the naturally aspirated 2.0 litre petrol unit that develops 106 kW of power. This is paired with a continuously variable transmission to deliver power to the front wheels. There is a six speed manual option available in the entry level ST. The CVT acts like a torque converter “stepping” like it has conventional gears. This allows the engine to settle into a refined hum. Despite this, the Qashqai is relatively frugal with a real world fuel economy of approximately 7.0 litres per 100 kilometres.

Great Drive Experience

The N-Tec sits on low profile 19 inch wheels that create an impressive ride quality. This allows the Qashqai to settle in after a bump with minimal tyre noise and great grip. Switching to the “Sport” mode enhances the steering and creates an even more solid feel. Despite its modest proportions, the Qashqai drives like a larger car, so you can rule the road.
