A Brief Overview of the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder
When they consider the Nissan Pathfinder, Perth car enthusiasts may not know that it’s regarded as an unsung hero. The Pathfinder has sold over 20,000 units here since its launch and Nissan are hoping to carry this success on into the future with this 2017 facelifted model. Let’s take a look at the upgraded range and see what new.
The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder Models:
Nissan has launched the Pathfinder here with three different models available; they are the: ST, ST-L, and Ti. There are some commonalities to bear in mind; all the models are powered by a freshly updated version of Nissan 3.5 litre V6 naturally aspirated engine. This power plant generates 202kW of power and 340Nm of torque, representing an increase of 12kW of power and 15 Nm of torque over the outgoing models. The improvements have come from adding direct injection and using mirror bore coating to reduce friction on the cylinders. This engine is paired to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that can be optioned with a four wheel drive or hybrid drivetrain. The hybrid drivetrain adds a 15kW electric motor; it’s available as a two wheel drive for the ST and a four wheel drive on the ST-L and the Ti.
Fuel consumption has been reduced to 9.9L/100km combined on the two drive models and 10.1L/100km on the four drive versions. It will come as a pleasant surprise to learn that the pricing structure is largely unchanged across the range. The only price increase is a $500 bump on the two wheel drive ST model, which is now $41,990 plus on roads. The Ti hybrid sits at the top of the range with a price of $60,190 plus on road costs.
The Pathfinder has a new V-Motion grille, fresh headlights with LED daytime running lights, a revised bonnet, new bumper and improved fog light design. The turning signals are now integrated into the wing mirrors, and the tail-lights have also been revised. The ride and handling are now firmer and assisted with a more responsive electrically assisted steering rack. Other standard equipment on the entry level ST, includes: seven seats, eight way powered adjustable driving seat, cruise control, tri zone climate control, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, keyless engine start, an 8” infotainment centre, a pair of USB ports, tyre pressure monitoring, power folding mirrors, privacy glass, and 18” alloy wheel. As we move up the range, even more, equipment becomes available for the additional premium.
