A Brief Review of the Nissan 370z Nismo
The latest Nissan 370z Nismo is a new take on the venerable model that has been around for almost a decade. In the past motoring journalist have lamented that the 370z has not really tapped into the full potential of this sports coupe. Nissan is hoping that this latest version will put those regrets in their rear mirror and showcase what this car is all about. Let’s take a closer look at whether Nissan has succeeded.
The 370z Nismo at a Glance
The Nissan 370z Nismo is resplendent in white with some interesting red highlights on the splitter, skirts, mirrors and rear diffuser. This red theme continues in the interior with red stitching and red leather inserts on the Alcantara seats. Aesthetically this all very pleasing and hints at the extra sporty characteristics that are under the surface. The first impressions whilst driving are extremely positive, the 3.7 litre V6 power plant hums nicely and delivers plenty of smooth power. The handling is excellent, the steering is weighted, and the brakes are nicely poised.
Inside the Cabin
The first and most surprising thing that you may initially notice is that there is a CD player located in the centre stack! Aside from this anomaly, the interior is a very nice place to be with Recaro sports seats with the aforementioned red details. The cabin feels nice and roomy for a two seater sports coupe with plenty of head and leg room. The height adjustable steering wheel is nice to touch and also has the Alcantara black inserts and a red leather stripe. Surprisingly the instruments binnacles adjust along with the steering height to ensure that your view is never blocked. There is a 7” infotainment touchscreen that features Sat Nav, Bluetooth connectivity, and audio streaming. There is an eight speaker sound system and one USB port to directly connect your digital devices.
Under the Bonnet
The star of the entire show is the powerful 3.7L V6 engine which generates 253 kW of power and 371 Nm of torque. This is the same power plant that is found in the Nissan 370z, but on the Nismo, it has been tweaked to provide a gain of 8kW of power and 8 Nm of torque. This engine is refined and thrums nicely into life when called upon. The Nismo doesn’t have much in the way of active safety measure, but there are six airbags, a rearview camera, traction control and ABS features.
