As your local Nissan dealers, at Perth City Nissan we are always keen to share news on upcoming releases. A recent reveal for the US market has caught our eye; the popular Nissan Pathfinder will get a new special edition that celebrates its “off road heritage.” This off road themed Pathfinder release has some interesting exterior and interior details that really set it apart from its stablemates. This model will be known as the Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition in North America. Let’s take a closer look at what’s been revealed and examine the possibility of an Australian release.
The Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition
Nissan has stated that this special edition variant will pay tribute the Pathfinder’s rugged heritage. This is essentially an off roading style package for the popular three row Pathfinder SUV. The previous generations of the Pathfinder were based on the Navara Ute to create a rugged SUV that’s designed to compete with the stiff competition.
North American buyers can opt for the addition of the Rock Creek package for an additional US $995 premium on top of the base model price. The Rock Creek package can be installed on both the SL and SV variants that are available in two wheel and four wheel drive configurations. There are two extra packages that can be installed; they are the Technology Package and the Premium Package (more details on these below).
The Rock Creek Package
The exterior highlights of the rock creek package, include a black mesh grille, black door handles, black roof rails, black side mirrors, a black front, and rear fascia trim, black wheel arches, black badging and 18” model specific alloy wheels shod with all season 255/60 tyres.
When you venture inside the Pathfinder Rock Creek Editions, you will find elements, such as special badging, two tone colourway seating, contrasting stitching through the cabin and metallic interior trim inserts. A lot of these additions are cosmetic, but the spec level is rounded out with a useful standard trailer tow hitch and harness and some splash guards.
The Technology and Premium Packages
There are two other option packages available to boost the Rock Creek Edition appeal even further.
The Technology Package adds features, such as the Nissan Connect navigation system (including live traffic updates), heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and accompanying side mirrors.
The Premium Package adds a powered panoramic sunroof and a Bose premium sound system with 13 speakers.
North American buyers will be able to purchase the Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition when it becomes available sometime from March onwards. Here in Australia, we have had no confirmation that the Rock Creek Edition will be available for our market. The Nissan Australia division has expressed an interest in this Pathfinder off road styled variant, but no final decision has been made yet.
